At certain times of the year it is possible to visit the grounds, gardens and exhibitions at Balmoral Castle. During the summer months you can also experience Ballater Victoria Week, the Clan Farquharson Gathering or perhaps one of the highland games - Ballater Games, Aboyne Games and of course the world famous Braemar Gathering.

• skiing at Glenshee Ski Centre. With 25 miles of downhill runs, the largest selection in Scotland, including the famous black run 'The Tiger'
• walking - the Cairngorms National Park and Grampian offers superb terrain and wonderful views and there is also Ballater Walking Week
• or some of the wonderful activitites available at Howie Irvine Deeside Activity Park
